On this day February

Feb. 1971
* GBR. London. 92.4 mHz VHF. VHF FM broadcasts soon catch on, and soul station Radio Invicta starts using 94.8 mHz VHF weekday evenings. However, it is not initially on FM on this frequency, but AM using a modified PMR set…
* GBR. London. 94.4 FM. Another station, run by a TV engineer, Abe Cohen, Radio Aquarius, starts broadcasts, and forms the LTIR, or London Transmitter of Independant Radio. This is to involve other stations, but unlike Radio Free London and the Helen Broadcasting Network, all these stations come from the one transmitter, not various different ones that turned on and off in turn and could only be heard in different places. Relaying has come of age. Stations thus relayed include: Radio Jackie, Radio Star, Radio London Underground [RLU], JFM [Which grew out of the Jackie VHF Saturday night service], Radio Classic and Radio Odyssey [Ideally I would like start dates and end dates of these stations]
Feb. 1977
* GBR. London. 1358 kHz MW. Around this time, LMR starts suffering from internal divisions, and is soon to close down. However, this only happens a few Sundays after two different ‘LMR’s appear on the same day, one from the Usual Sundridge Park site and the other from Mottingham!
* FIN. 6255 kHz SW. Weekends. Radio Red Lion starts broadcasting. It only lasts a few weeks. [where can I find out more about this, and other Finnish stations?]

* GBR. West Midlands. 94.2 FM. UK Radio acquires a 20-watt FM rig; Paul Johnson and David leave Radio Free Birmingham, and Nigel Gordon joins the team. The station broadcasts alternate Sundays, 19:00-23:00. During one of these broadcasts, which were sited at the time in a field near Rubery, the farmer chases Paul and Steve Merrick off his land with a shotgun! He then threatens to call the police, but Paul and Steve have gone before they turn up. Steve leaves a shoe behind, stuck in the mud [which alternate Sundays? one date will be enough to fix this]
* GBR. Colchester. This month Red Fox Radio closes down. Garry Lee goes to look for a better rig.
Feb. 1982
* GBR. Merseyside. 999 kHz MW. Radio Alpine is noted on air in this month, this station broadcasts 12:00-18:00 Mondays to Fridays, sometimes later with guest DJs [When did this end?]
Feb. 1986
* BEL. The Radio Delmare transmitter remains off the air this month, Free Radio Service Holland negotiates relays with two Irish stations, Radio Rainbow International and International Radio Relay Service [IRRS], Rainbow will relay 1 hour on the 2nd Sunday of the month, and IRRS will broadcast 3 hours each on the 3rd and 4th Sundays
* GBR. Wolverhampton. 105.0 FM. UK Radio makes a few tests on this frequency this month. [do dates for these broadcasts exist?]
* GBR. London. 93.0 FM. Alices Restaurant is on air this month, it had planned to close down around Christmas but is now planning to close in Easter. [what dates was it on?]
